These were instances of novels in which
J.R.R. Tolkien appeared _as_himself_. Example is “Looking for the King”, which
also featured Charles Williams and C.S. Lewis as themselves. And there have
been childrens’ adventure stories with “young” Lewis and Tolkien and Williams
as crime solvers, etc.
